This is primarily a seniors club (16 and over) although all committed students of karate are welcome, it is for absolute beginners through to experienced practitioners. The club is designed for students who wish to either learn or develop their karate in a practical, appropriate and individual way.
For beginners the first three sessions are free. If after this you decide it is not for you, you will have lost nothing but your time.
The Impington Seijinkai Karate club aims to teach karate to adult students, in an adult way. As we only allow over 16s we can teach karate in a controlled manner, treating the students like adults, and without the compromises in the choice of techniques that have to be made when juniors are present.
Teaching is based around getting the student to understand the principles behind a technique rather than blind repetition. This is achieved using a variety of exercises, equipment, and partner work.
Experienced students are welcome, it is not the intention of the club to 'convert' students to our way of doing things but rather to show them the principles by which we perform techniques. This way we hope that experienced students might find something useful in applying techniques that they are already familiar with, and the members of the club might learn something new from them in the process.
All the instruction at ISKC is carried out by
fully insured instructors with over 25 years of experience in various martial arts:
Chief instructor Malcolm Howlett 4th Dan.
The club is a member of The Seijinkai Karate-Do Association. From time to time we invite guest instructors to the club, recent guest instruction was provided by Harry Cook.
ISKC meets twice every week except for Christmas and Easter breaks.
